Group Camp 2026

Date: 6th Jun 2026 Author: Vista

Earlier this month, the Group enjoyed a 4-day-long group camp. Following on from the success of Group Camps 2018 and 2022, the 2026 camp was also a great success. 90 young people and adults had a fantastic weekend in the most glorious weather.

Day 1. After everyone had arrived, the camp officially started, and with the Camp’s Space theme, everyone was arranged into Planet teams and received camp t-shirts.

Then it was time to start the afternoon’s activities. The teams pioneered A-frames and Chariots before racing each other around a course. Later in the afternoon, on a sunny day, it was time for an assault course, involving a huge net, equipped with wet sponges and a slip and slide! As well as Otter’s super rocket challenge.

Day 2. And after flag break and breakfast, between activities, the day started with a little disco. What else? Then the main activities begin: Climbing, Axe Throwing, Archery and Air Rifle Shooting. After a spot of lunch, the activities continued, as well as Squirrel and Beaver activities; rocket launching, soft archery, and Nerf wars! Then, in the evening, it’s time for a film. WALL-E made an appearance, in keeping with our space theme.

Day 3. After the flag break and an update on the planet team scores after breakfast, it was time for more activities. The Scouts started with pioneering, constructing a tower and a swing! Meanwhile, the Squirrels and Beavers had a great time with adventures in the woods, camp crafts and baked bread on fires. In the afternoon, the Scouts honed their bushcraft skills, including lighting fires, collecting wood, and knife, axe, and saw work. As well as having a go, along with the Cubs, on an aerial runway. After tea, the last night of camp, it was time for a campfire. Once the fire was lit, lots of songs were sung, and the Group even had a visit from a camel.

Day 4. The last morning of camp. It was time to pack the camp away and finish our amazing long weekend. Tents down, the field almost empty. The camp was concluded with flag down, a time to look back on the camp, present awards and say thank you to all the adults and leaders for giving up their bank holiday weekend, as well as the hours of planning.
