Beaver Leader’s Wingwalk!

Wingwalking – the act of walking on the wings of a plane in flight, started as a daredevil stunt in the 1920s during the barnstorming era of aviation.
The 4th Beaver Leaders have taken on just that to raise money for a Beaver Sleepover at the Birmingham Sealife Centre. Such an overnight experience comes at a high cost and, in order to help fund this amazing experience, we convinced each other to do this amazing stunt on the 10th anniversary of running the 4th Beavers together.

So, on Saturday 3rd May, we took to the sky above Cheltenham and the GoFundMe reached £750! It was an exhilarating, thrilling day that started with a safety briefing before donning the flight suits that made us look like we were part of the Red Arrows…
After doing the very decisive rock/paper/scissors to see who would go first, Squirrel won and chose to go first. Of course, the 4th neckers and hoodies were on full show spreading our Scouting message across the Cotswolds.
The photos show a snapshot of the most amazing day and one we wouldn’t hesitate to do again. Of course, the aim of the day was to raise money for the Beavers and to take them on a sleepover never to forget – a trip on the train, a sleepover in the tunnel of the SEALife centre, learning about the animals, a trip to Legoland Discovery centre and there may also be a special pizza dinner!

We extend our huge thanks to the support and donations of those who helped this become reality for the Beavers
Watch out for the Sleepover update coming up at the end of May!
Yours in Scouting
