Group Camp 2022

Date: 22nd Jun 2022 Author: Vista

Our Group camp for 2022 was a fantastic success! The ‘Royal’ themed camp occurred at the District campsite, Sherratts Wood. Bringing together all our sections and leaders, the event took place over four days, from Thursday to Sunday, over the Jubilee Bank Holiday weekend.

On arrival at the camp, young people were sorted into houses – Windsor, Hanover, Stuart and Tutor – and were presented with camp t-shirts, designed by a Scout, and a camp booklet for scoring points during the weekend. All before an afternoon of fun and activities on inflatables; bouncy castle, slide and gladiator dual to kick off the camp and a silent disco in the evening.

On Friday, the Scouts built and zipped down an aerial runway enjoyed by the whole troop. Afternoon and the Group came back together for chariot races around the campsite, before another silent disco in the evening.

Saturday and the campsite’s onsite activities were go! Archery, Rifle shooting and climbing. Topped off, that evening, with a campfire and paraffin torches built by the Scouts.

No camp is complete with a deluge, come Sunday morning and the glorious weather had turned to rain. Perfect for packing away.

Despite the soggy tents, the camp was a brilliant long weekend. Thank you to all the leaders who gave up the time to plan and make the camp happen.
