Scout’s Eryri Peaks Expeditions 2025

Date: 24th Aug 2025 Author: Vista

Some of our Scouts recently came back from their Eryri Peaks Expeditions. A long weekend of adventurous hikes through the Eryri National Park in North Wales.

We arrived at Cornel Scout Centre on the Friday afternoon, ready for our adventures. Once all set up, we enjoyed an interesting talk with a youth officer for the Eryri National Park, to find out more about the local area and environment ahead of ventures onto the mountains. For tea, a good old BBQ, on fires.

On Saturday, preparations for the day’s hike included a bag weigh-in. The winner was 3.5 Kg and the heaviest was 6 kg. Then the Scouts set off to hike around Cnicht. Here, they were put through their paces with a series of navigation exercises. After a day on the hills, it was time to return to camp and time for tea. Homemade Lasagna and sticky toffee pudding were awaiting.

Sunday, Day 3, and it was time for the big one. Climbing Yr Wyddfa (Mount Snowdon) via the Miner and Pyg tracks. We enjoyed brilliant weather in the amazing scenery of Eryri. Clear skies allowed us to see for miles and miles at the summit. An absolutely brilliant day. What an achievement for the Scouts.

The final day on the hills, and a hike starting from the campsite at Cornel, to Capel Curig, including Crimpiau peak. A great final afternoon in Eryri.
The Scouts had a an absolutely fantastic long weekend in the stunning environment of Eryri and we had the most excellent weather.
