Scout’s Expedition Camp 2025

In early June, the troop had a brilliant weekend at expedition camp. The rain didn’t dampen our spirits on our first moving camp!
The Scouts successfully set up at Gradbach on Friday, before dismantling it all again on Saturday to commence the hike. Many discovering ration packs for the first time for breakfast and during the hike.
Over 6 miles in total through the amazing environment of the Peak District, and the rain held out for most of it.
At Barnswood, the Scouts arrived to find their second campsite. They quickly and proactively re-constructed their hammock village and enjoyed homemade sweet and sour chicken for tea, topped off with homemade ginger cake, all cooked and baked on an open fire.
On Sunday, the troop made traditional Scouting-based activities their thing, with knives and axes being used to split, prepare and craft wood. Proper Scouting.
Huge shout out and thanks to Ian and Jill for giving up their Saturday to dismantle, move and re-set up an entire troop’s campsite, behind the scenes. We couldn’t have done it without you!
Huge thanks also to my amazing leadership team, Adrian, Sam, Jake, Andrew, George, Emilia and Oliver for giving up your weekend and making camp happen.
The Scouts were truly fantastic, rising to every challenge, and channelling their inner proactiveness to make camp such a success.
