Scout’s Hillwalking Courses 2025

Date: 15th Apr 2025 Author: Vista

The Troop has been busy in the early part of 2025, undertaking 3 hillwalking courses.

January – on the hills in the peak District near flash in some very cold conditions.

February – 7.5 miles Moel Famau and Moel Arthur in the Clwydian Range, North Wales.

March – another 7 miles, this time around the Goyt Valley.

Our revered hillwalking courses are challenging but great experiences. The courses take in the amazing scenery of the Peak District and North Wales and offers a fantastic opportunity for Scouts to develop and refine their navigation and survival skills.

In partaking in any of the hillwalking course sessions, Scouts will make progress towards their Hillwalking activity badge. To achieve the badge, Scouts must undertake 5 hikes of at least 8 miles in length, 3 of which should include terrain above 500m.

The Scouts demonstrated some great navigation on all the courses. Learning and practicing vital navigation skills and techniques.
