Scout’s Summer Camp 2025
Well, what a week. The Troop has enjoyed an amazing time in Dorset. We’ve had great weather, brilliant food and done some amazing activities.
The Scouts have, as always, been brilliant and kept us entertained. They have each demonstrated an exceptionally high level of skill, demonstrated in the short time taken to set up and de-camp, and building a pioneering structure before breakfast had even finished! They have risen to challenges and thrown themselves into every activity. They are a brilliant group of young people.

To the leaders, a huge thank you! They have given up a week of holiday to be at camp and spent countless hours planning and in meetings to make the week such a success. Sam, Jake, Adrian, George, Liv, Grace, Ellie, Darren and Luke – thank you for being an amazing team and putting so much into the camp.
Massive thanks also to Stafford Railway Circle for their generous donation that partly funded Summer Camp, following the Scout’s support at their model railway exhibition last September. Their funding allows us to provide a greater range of enriching experiences like these for our young people.
We had arrived and set up! Day 1 of summer camp is complete.
After a good journey down and a record setup time, Scouts enjoyed an afternoon in the sun, a BBQ for tea and an impromptu campfire with some other Scouts.
Summer Camp Day 2. The Scouts have had an amazing day Sailing and windsurfing at Christchurch.
The Scouts had an absolutely brilliant time in great weather. Then, back at site, homemade chicken curry and rice.
Day 3. To start, a spot of breakfast, cereal, followed by pancakes. Then a great day hiking to Old Harry Rocks in brilliant weather. Back at the campsite, it was tea time. Chicken, roasted in the dutch oven, egg fried rice and vegetables. Then, after buying postcards near Old Harry’s Rocks earlier in the day, it was time to write home.
Day 4. A Good Morning from Poole Harbour. After a very early start, we left camp for Poole. After a little wander around the harbour front, we are aboard the ferry, ready to set sail for Brownsea Island. On the Island, and a walk over to the Scout Campsite, the birthplace of Scouting. We found a peacock and our necker in the campsite shop! The Scouts had a fab time doing Kayaking, Paddle Boarding and Giant SUP. We think the giant SUP was the favourite of the day with lots of jumping in and splashing around. Then, beef stir fry for tea back at the campsite.
A morning of traditional Scouting skills and creativity, on day 5. The Scouts were straight to it after breakfast, making pioneering structures, building fires and making camp bracelets
Into the afternoon, Knife and axe work and Pioneering to start, splitting wood and perfecting structures. Then a break for amazing homemade macaroni cheese for lunch.
A big breakfast to start day 6, cooked by the Scouts on fire. Then, an afternoon on Sandbanks Beach. A fun time of playing in the sea and sand. Compulsory burying of the leader as well as ice cream. An evening of Chips from the chippy, compulsory disco and camp fire, equipped with songs and actions, all to mark the last night of camp.
