2023/24, A year in Scouting review…

The winning team of the prestigious Distirct Lord Stafford Cup Camping Competition. June 2024
Another action packed Scouting year is complete! Yet again, we’ve done so much…
The Troop continues to go from strength to strength. We’re very pleased to continue to be able to offer such a range of different traditional Scouting based activities, the ethos that drives our programme and adventures. So many fantastic opportunities that Scouts get so much out of and, as always, pushing the limits of what’s possible at Scouts. #PioneeredAtThe4th

On the water, during Island Paddle Camp on the River Trent in Nottingham. June 2024.
The Troop has undertaken 8 camps at various locations, including our Island Paddle Camp in Nottingham, kayaking and staying on the River Trent. Our infamous Night Hike in the Peaks, returning to our Roaches route, finishing at Gradbach for the rest of the weekend. Autumn, Winter and Spring camps, including our return to Kinver, one of our favourites, after a break last year. Two of our patrols also competed in the prestigious District Lord Stafford Cup Camping Competition and won! A great achievement, that we are all very proud of.
Away from camps, the Scouts have honed their navigation skills on hillwalking courses, as well as developing their rock climbing and kayaking during weekends through the last twelve months.

Lunch on an Island in Lake Windermere, during Summer Camp in the Lake District. July 2023.
We concluded the previous year with our annual Summer Camp, in the stunning scenery of the Lake District. The Scouts enjoyed all sorts of activities from Gorge walking, to climbing and hiking as well as some amazing bushcraft activities. It was amazing, despite the near constant rain.
We’re now looking forward to our summer camp on the Isle of Wight this year! All Fingers crossed for some good weather.
The Scouts have been very busy each week taking part in a huge range of Scouting based activities during our troop nights. Some of our favourites including, parliament week, fires and cooking skills, micronav and pioneering.

Hiking in the Peak District. December 2023.
The Scouts have been brilliant; risen to challenges, developed skills and achieved so much – over 230 badges in total – including 5 Chief Scout Gold Awards!
A huge thank you goes to the troop’s leadership team; Sam, Jake, Darren, Adrian, Ali, Liv and George who volunteer so much of their time to facilitate our amazing programme.
